On January 27, 2023, the Affordable Housing Consortium of Tacoma-Pierce County held a public forum, “Overcoming Barriers to Developing Affordable Housing in Pierce County” in Tacoma, WA. There were over 150 registrants, 20 panelists, 4 panels, and 2 networking sessions.

The event brought together municipalities, developers, funders, stakeholders, and advocates to discuss the current state of affordable housing in Pierce County, explore challenges that developers are facing in the field, and discuss strategies for overcoming barriers in order to increase and preserve affordable housing across Pierce County. The feeling of the event was high-energy and attendees were invested in the panelist conversations.
