Excellence in Affordable Housing is one of Pierce County’s premier fundraising and award events benefitting the Tacoma-Pierce County Affordable Housing Consortium (TPCAHC). TPCAHC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing education and advocacy to promote and encourage affordable housing development in Pierce County. Now in its 8th year, TPCAHC has raised over $170,000 dollars through our annual event to hold educational programs to enhance County-wide knowledge of affordable housing need and advocacy to encourage the development of more affordable housing. Since its inception in 1996, TPCAHC has offered community education on a variety of housing-related topics through training, public forums, community meetings, “Lunch and Learn” meetings, and by speaking at local community events. Education is the first component in addressing a community need and through our outreach, we have worked to build a base of support for housing advocacy. Our advocacy efforts include hosting candidate forums, working with and prepping local advocates to testify at hearings, partnering with regional coalitions on their advocacy days, and working with local cities, Pierce County, and state elected officials to adopt housing-friendly policies that will encourage investment of affordable housing.
