The Tacoma Pierce County Affordable Housing Consortium [AHC] provides community education and advocacy to represent its members in expanding opportunities for nonprofit corporations and others to finance, produce, and manage housing for low-income people.

The AHC undertakes a variety of activities to support the development of affordable housing in Pierce County, including:

Public Education:
The Executive Director and members of the AHC are called on frequently to speak in public forums about the affordable housing situation in Tacoma and Pierce County. The AHC collaborates with community partners to host Quarterly Public Forums, including an annual Candidate Forum on affordable housing issues in September.

Public Policy:
The AHC participates in Task Forces, policy panels and other forums—advising city, county, state and federal policy makers on matters important to affordable housing in Pierce County.

Strategic Alliances: The AHC participates with local, state and national housing groups to further our collective missions. We are an active member of the Pierce County Human Services Coalition, Washington Low Income Housing Alliance, Pacific Coast Affordable Housing Network, and the National Low Income Housing Coalition.  Click here for a list of our Partner agencies and their websites.

AHC Members have developed and/or operate over 6,000 units of affordable housing in Pierce County, and they continue to create more housing in our community.

Housing provided by Members supports the entire housing continuum: emergency, permanent rental, and homeownership.

Members are diverse in size, with housing budgets ranging from $100,000 to over $40M.
